I was a bit worried about this Slipknot CD. I was worried the band would lose some of it's 'cool' after the death of founding bassist Paul Grey and long-time drummer Joey Jordison leaving the band. Luckily I was wrong. This CD is not sugar coated and not for the fainthearted. It seems the band got renewed energy and inspiration from Grey's death, digging deep in that well of pain. The CD shows a depth in emotion and some heavily personal moments. The CD is explosive and it feels like your guts are ripped apart, but in a good way. 10/10 for .5: The Gray Chapter!

Ok, deep breaths. Deep breaths. With the news that Her Madgesty (Madonna) is apparently planning a special 2015 world tour, I'm hoping that the singer will actually now visit South Africa. Not to adopt children, but to actually perform some shows. She has never toured the country. ever. Rumours were that she might be too expensive for the South African audience, but hey, let's see what happened. I would like to see her do her musical magic here in South Africa. According to news reports, Madonna is in early talks to start touring again next year, after she releases a fresh album. "This is going to be one very special tour. Madonna wants to pull out all the stops, especially because it is 30 years since the Virgin Tour," a source told British newspaper The Mirror. "Like her 2012 MDNA tour, where she played 88 dates in places including Europe, South America and Asia, Madge will be travelling the world. Once the new record is finished she can concentrate on the concerts." Apparently Madonna has sought the help of OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder to write songs for her forthcoming LP. It's believed she is intent on being out of the box with her new sounds. "Madonna knows that in order to stay relevant she has to keep reinventing herself and push boundaries," the insider explained. "The new tour will show a side of her that no one has seen before."
Michael Calfan is not a new name in the EDM business. This French producer has been around since he was a teen! I started DJ-ing at 15 and then at 16 I started to produce", he told festivalsherpa.com. He was discovered "Love Generation" and "World, Hold On" French house DJ, Bob Sinclar. Michael explains: "It’s a funny story. When I was 16, one of my friends spent his holidays with Bob Sinclar and thanks to that he gave me his email address. Then I sent him maybe 50 emails with some tracks and one day he decided to come to my home to see how I produce. I think he liked it." When Michael is not touring, playing or producing, he likes to chill and hang out with his buddies. Some of his biggest inspirations? Daft Punk and Axwell. Sweeet!

Some Kind of Monster follows the band through three of the most turbulent years in their over three-decade long career. It gives viewers an incredibly raw and intimate look into the lives and psyches of the members of one of the most successful rock bands in music history as they battle their way through addiction, domestic life, backlash from their fans, and near-total disintegration during the making of their St. Anger album. The documentary, directed by the award-winning team of Joe Berlinger & Bruce Sinofsky (Brother’s Keeper, Paradise Lost 1-3), won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary Feature. "Entertaining, moving and historically significant" - New York Times "This is an extraordinary film about a multiplatinum supergroup running headlong into a mid-life marital crisis....a hugely entertaining film" Uncut "Fantastic portrait of a band in freefall...what a ride!" Time Out "An absorbing insight into how difficult it can be to stay at the top of your game after over 20 years in the business" Film Review "Surprisingly subtle, honest and well crafted" Independent "Engrossing and uplifting human drama" Q “Cinematic Gold.” Peter Travers, Rolling Stone “Essential viewing” Total Film “Captivating” Empire

Scintillating, soothing and sensual best describe the familiar and legendary voice of five-time GRAMMY® ® Award winning music legend, DIONNE WARWICK, who has become a cornerstone of American pop music and culture. Warwick’s career, which currently celebrates over 50 years, has established her as an international music icon and concert act. Over that time, she has earned 75 charted hit songs and sold over 100 million records. She began singing professionally in 1961 after being discovered by a young songwriting team, Burt Bacharach and Hal David. She had her first hit in 1962 with “Don’t Make Me Over.” Less than a decade later, she had released more than 18 consecutive Top 100 singles, including her classic Bacharach/David recordings, “Walk on By,” “Anyone Who Had a Heart,” “Message to Michael,” "Promises Promises,” “A House is Not a Home,” “Alfie,” “Say a Little Prayer,” “This Girl’s in Love With You,” “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again,” “Reach Out For Me,” and the theme from “Valley of the Dolls. ”Together, Warwick and her songwriting team of Burt Bacharach & Hal David, accumulated more than 30 hit singles, and close to 20 best-selling albums, during their first decade together. Two years after the debut of “Now,” Dionne Warwick is releasing a new album, “Feels So Good,”. The 14-track full-length effort features classic Warwick hits redone as duets, including “A House Is Not A Home,” featuring Ne-Yo. “It was such a pleasant surprise to hear Ne-Yo’s full bodied voice and the sensitive approach he gave to ‘A House Is Not A Home.’ Being in the studio with him was an absolute pleasure and I hope we can do it again,” Warwick told Billboard. “Feels So Good” – which counts as Warwick’s 28th project to date – is packed with star-studded guest appearances and family including Jamie Foxx, Cee Lo Green, Gladys Knight, Billy Ray Cyrus, Eric Paslay, Cyndi Lauper, Mya, Ruben Studdard
Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, Gregory Porter has gone from strength to strength since the original release of, his Blue Note debut, Liquid Spirit in 2013. From getting his own night at the iTunes Festival at London’s Roundhouse, to headlining Bluesfest at the Royal Albert Hall it’s been a bumper year for him. Now Porter tops it off by releasing a deluxe repackaging of the album with brand new tracks and live DVD. The repackaging of the GRAMMY-winning jazz and soul singer’s major label debut includes an additional 4 tracks, including collaborations, covers and a brand new remix. On it is Gregory and Jamie Cullum’s take on the classic “Don’t let me be misunderstood” which they sang during 2014’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. There’s also a brand new version of him singing “Grandma’s Hands”, originally made famous by Bill Withers, (and featuring Ben L’Oncle Soul), and the 20Syl remix of Liquid Spirit. The deluxe edition also sees Gregory cementing his friendship with British Jazz/Soul singer Laura Mvula by getting her to duet with him on a new version of his own composition “Water under bridges”, with their voices perfectly intertwining. The bonus DVD features extracts from his performance with the Metropole Orchestra from 2013. As well as orchestral versions of his own tracks it has Gregory covering classic songs such as Donny Hathaway’s ‘Flying Easy’ and Muddy Water’s ‘Hootchie Coochie Man’. The deluxe version of the album is further justification for Porter’s quick ascent into the top ranks of jazz and R&B singers today, showcasing his innate gift for writing poignant songs based upon personal experiences with a relatable and emotional immediacy.
“There’s a lot of raw emotion on this record,” begins Rise Against singer and guitarist Tim McIlrath as he describes the Chicago punks’ highly anticipated and searing new album, The Black Market on Interscope Records. “It’s a raw nerve,” he clarifies, “it’s going to be a hard thing to ignore.” These words should not be taken lightly. After 15 years, and six incendiary albums, Rise Against have become one of the most successful, challenging and revered punk rock bands on the planet. While selling four million albums globally across their last four releases – with 2011’s Endgame debuting at number one in Germany and Canada, and number two on the U.S. Billboard charts - they’ve also always adhered to the idea of music as a vehicle for change. In doing so, they’ve appeared alongside superstars like Adele and Sting on Amnesty International’s Chimes Of Freedom – The Songs Of Bob Dylan compilation in 2012, toured with Rage Against The Machine’s iconic guitarist Tom Morello, campaigned against gun violence with the Demand A Plan organization and advocated the Make It Stop campaign’s attempt to raise awareness of LBGT teen suicides and bullying, working closely with “It Gets Better.” It’s important to keep this rich heritage of protest in mind when discussing The Black Market.
Big Concerts has announced that Phillip Phillips will be joining The Script on their South African tour dates in February 2015 in support of their new album ‘No Sound Without Silence’. Don’t miss out; catch them live in Cape Town on 4th February at Grand Arena, GrandWest, Durban on 6 February at ICC Durban Arena and Johannesburg on 7 February at Crocodile Creek. Presented by KFM, East Coast Radio, 947 and M-Net. One of the biggest singles of 2012, the quadruple platinum ‘Home’ announced Phillip Phillips as a singer/guitarist to the world. Centering on the American Idol season 11 winner’s rich, raspy vocals and masterful guitar skills, ‘Home’ served as the lead single from ‘The World from the Side of the Moon’ – a platinum selling album that shot to number 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart upon its release in November 2012. His debut album, produced by Gregg Wattenberg (Train, O.A.R) also features the platinum single ‘Gone,Gone,Gone’ and ‘Where We Came From’. Phillips spent most of 2013 on the road with Matchbox 20 and John Mayer for his Born and Raised Tour. Performing live offers a sense of freedom that Phillips finds essential to making music. He commented ‘we just go out there and jam out and try to make it different and exciting, instead of playing the songs exactly how they sound on the album. Its all about real musicians playing real music that we’re passionate about and just having a good time, and hopefully we’re giving the crowd a good time too’.
Following an epic week which saw the band kick-off their first ever headline arena tour in Phoenix and play to over 25,000 fans over two shows at the LA Forum, 5SOS thank their fans by today announcing the release of live album ‘LIVESOS’. As the biggest selling debut band so far this year, 5SOS’s electric live performances have been the cornerstone of their success, winning them millions of loyal fans all around the world, and setting them apart from any other breakthrough bands this year. Coming off the back of three huge worldwide hit singles and a self-titled debut album that has sold over two million copies worldwide in just five months, 5SOS have safely earned their place as the biggest success story of 2014, and it’s only just the beginning.
Marilyn Manson silence critics with his new head-banging-disco-floor-killer track, Deep Six. This is the 2nd single to be released from the rocker's forthcoming album, The Pale Emperor. Deep Six touches of elements of Beautiful People from the Antichrist Superstar CD. It's a great song. Back to Marilyn's old form. Besides the beat, the best part is the gothy-guitar-bits. Brilliant!
Safe to say it's been one hell of a year for Bastille. Having sold out two Alexandra Palace shows and a U.S Arena tour; earned themselves a BRIT Award plus two AMA nominations and having surpassed the three million sales mark for their debut album (Bad Blood), most bands would be content to end the year quietly. Not this band. The four-piece are broadening their horizons and discography further by releasing a brand new mixtape, aptly titled 'VS. (Other People's Heartache Pt. III)' on December 8th. An eight-track offering, the mixtape follows similar footsteps to their previous mixtapes, 'Other People's Heartache Pt.I’ and ‘Pt.II’ by melding together an array of genres, styles and production techniques, alongside some rather special collaborations. “With the mixtapes,” offers frontman Dan Smith, “it's about working with as many people as possible and having fun with people that we know and the friends we've made through touring.” Take a look at the tracklisting and you'll find larger-than-life stars like Haim, Angel Haze and Lizzo alongside the new and raw talents of MNEK, Rag'N'Bone Man, Rationale and Grades. Having taken a year to put together, Smith describes it as “a patchwork of stuff that we've been working on and people we've been working with throughout 2014”, the results are bound to take some listeners by surprise. From the distorted string introduction of 'Fall Into Your Arms' to the groove-infused guitars of 'Bite Down'; the heavy hip hop feel of 'Weapons' to the surprising final guest on closer 'Remains', every track reveals a new facet to one of Britain’s most successful bands.

1st things first K-black-Tha-KineticG real name Kabelo Khangela born and bred in Mamelodi, Pretoria. He is a music composer, author, publisher, rap artist, song Writer, recording artist and performer. Kabelo has been rapping since an early age but started recording in 2011 when he released his 1st single One2Heavy. He is currently working on his 1st mixtape titled "Welcome To KineticWorld" which is due for release in 2015. He got the name K-black he got in Howick Durban during a high school camp back in 2009 while in grade 11, because he was also a science student which is one of the additives on his lyrical content, he added the word Kinetic as a way to describe his movement and hustle. Growing up as a young kid some of his influences include the likes of Vommon, 50cent, DMX, The Anvils, Hidden Force, Amu, Zola and Pro Kid, just to mention a few.
New Single: I have two singles at the moment which I’m pushing which is Breath(haemoglobic) and Alcohol Species, but Breath(haemoglobic) is the 1st single I shot a music video for, which is that hard-core rap song that sounds a bit old skool also because the instrumental is taken from one of the late Biggie's songs. The video is shot by Coopervix and directed by K-black-Tha-KineticG himself and was released in 19 September 2014 as a free download and the reception has been really great reaching over 1000 downloads on kasimp3 and 300 views on YouTube.
1st CD I ever bought: Pro Kid's Snakes and Ladders, but with my own money it was L-tido's All or Nothing. LOL. I support local hip-hop like that.
What I’m doing for Xmas? Basically just sharing the links of my songs on our social platforms like Facebook and Twitter. People have money to spend on data so its not a hustle to just a few bundles on YouTube and what’s a better gift other than music?
Biggest accomplishment so far? Being on the Come Up Tour and perfoming at their big event titled battle of the cities as he was representing his hood Pretoria, my song "Alcohol Species" getting some airplay on Tshwane FM and working with international artists on my mixtape. Some of my recent collabos include Nigerian artist "RhymeDeep".
1st thing I want to achieve in 2015? To finally release my mixtape "Welcome To KineticWorld" and publish songs for other artists which I’m managing one of them namely J-tease. And hopefully start my own clothing brand.

Award-winning South African flutist and composer Wouter Kellerman and renowned Indian Composer and Producer Ricky Kej have been nominated for the prestigious 57th GRAMMY® AWARDS for their debut collaborative album ‘WINDS OF SAMSARA’ (www.windsofsamsara.com) in the BEST NEW AGE ALBUM OF THE YEAR category. It was announced on 5 December 2014 by The Recording Academy. ‘WINDS OF SAMSARA’ debuted at #1 on the Billboard New Age Chart and continued to be in the Top 10 for the next 12 weeks. This masterful collaborative album by Kellerman and Kej also debuted at #1 on the ZMR World Radio Charts. It has been a great year for the Duo, as Kellerman performed sold out shows at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Grammy Museum in LA. The boundary-breaking New Age album ‘WINDS OF SAMSARA’ speaks through themes of World peace and positivity, spinning together forward-moving harmony, progressive composition, and technical prowess with a verve and passion never before attempted in this genre. Two years in the making by the star-matched duo Wouter and Ricky, the album spotlights the musical, cultural and political connections between India and South Africa from Mahatma Gandhi to Nelson Mandela. On being nominated, Wouter Kellerman said: “I am simply overwhelmed by this nomination! It is extremely heartening to know that all our hard work is being recognized. This album has truly transcended borders and cultural barriers and we hope the positive energy created will help effect positive change in the world. Being recognized in this way humbles me and motivates me to continue spreading the message of peace and harmony through my music”. In what is seen as a major leap forward for India and South Africa on the global music stage, Wouter Kellerman and Ricky Kej will grace the red carpet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, 8 February 2015 for the evening billed as Music's Biggest Night®.
