Lady Antebellum - Own The Night
We were worried that Lady Antebellum weren't going to top the chart-topping success of their CD, Need You Now. We were wrong! Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood have crafted an emotionally charged and wholly artistic album in Own The Night. "We took more time to write and record the CD than we've ever done before," says singer Charles Kelley, and we can hear it. The group created a beatiful, moving, dramatic and ambitious CD, which ranges from classic pop to epic sweeing ballads, gruff Americana to country-tinged rock.
The Kooks - Junk of the Heart
Junk of the Heat marks a rebirth for British indie band, The Kooks. Sometimes you have to change everything, re-tool everything, re-think everything in order to move in the right direction. The Kook's Luke Pritchard knows this, in fact he positively delights in it. His band's new album - the third - has always had one great goal: to reinvent the band from the ground up...Rather wonderfully, theyve' done it! Recorded in London and Los Angeles, the songs came in a great rush, with Like playing guitar as the band's long-time producer, Tony Hoffer, built beats and basslines and atmospheres on his laptop. The bedrock of the CD is, as ever, winsome, highly listenable harmonic pop.
Various - House Anthems 10
Two of South Africa's most repsected and long-standing house music experts, Kevin Grenfell and Justin Vee, go head-to-head on House Anthems X (10). The double-disc release is just what the end-of-year party ordered: make no mistake, the festive season is almost upon us and House Anthems X is like to provide the soundtrack from now well into the New Year.
