Seether (rocbloc.com) |
After much speculation and rumours, it's finally confirmed that international rockers Seether will be the headline act at the Cape Town Bike Festival on 16 - 18 December at the Cape Town Stadium. The band will kick off the festival on Friday evening. Former South Africans, Seether (originally known as Saron Gas back then) formed in 1999 and quickly gained notoriety in SA’s rock market with their release, Fragile, which became one of the best-selling titles of the year, and saw Seether emerge as a top live act. It’s not surprising that the band progressed to international stature. Seether made its initial impact on U.S. charts, hearts and eardrums with their 2002 album Disclaimer. In a career that’s spanned nearly a decade, the power trio of lead singer Shaun Morgan, bassist Dale Stewart and drummer John Humphrey that is collectively known as Seether has toured the globe on the strength of five Gold and Platinum-selling albums, steadily growing a devoted fan base while continually pushing creative boundaries. Seether broke new ground again with their fifth studio LP released by Wind Up Records in May 2011. Produced by the legendary Brendan O’Brien, Holding Onto Strings Betther Left To Fray has been winning rave reviews from both fans and critics alike, with the press touting this as Seether’s best album ever. The album blends buoyant, aurally addictive vocals with the band´s signature searing guitar work. Lead singer Shaun Morgan commented “it’s always great to return home to South African shores and fans, there’s a unique sense of patriotism amongst SA fans and performers than runs in our veins! We can’t wait to get out there and see our fans again”. Tickets for the event is available at www.computicket.com.
