Indie pop don't come better than this! The New York band
fun. already have us loving the single We Are Young (featuring Janelle Monáe)
and we can gladly report that the other tracks on their second CD Some Nights is
just as fun! Although their first CD Aim & Ignite were produced for those
who is not loving the radio vomit pop hits that sounds like a remix of a remix,
their new CD is aimed at a larger following, which might disappoint diehard
fans of the group. Still, “Some Nights” is a smart and interesting album that
has some great moments. From the social anxiety filled (and Queen-inspired)
title track to the thought provoking “Carry On,” each track feels bigger than
the next. Singer Nate Ruess’ vocals are a godsend and it's evident that Some
Nights draws heavily from notable hip-hop albums like Kanye West’s My Beautiful
Dark Twisted Fantasy and Drake’s Take Care. Watch the music video for We Are Young HERE!
