CD REVIEW! Scissor Sisters - Magic Hour

Scissor Sisters have returned with their new single ‘Only The Horses’, and release their fourth album ‘Magic Hour’. “It’s a sweet joyful mélange of beat-driven future-pop,” says flamboyant singer Jake Shears of ‘Magic Hour’. “It style-hops all over the place unabashedly.” Magic Hour is the result of a series of team-ups between Scissor Sisters - Shears, Babydaddy, Ana Matronic, Del Marquis and Randy Real - and a whole host of stellar artists, writers and producers, including Azealia, Banks, Calvin Harris, Stuart Price, Pharrell Williams, Diplo and Alex Rihda, the German electronic music producer and DJ behind BoysNoize. With all these funky names, one would expect an upbeat CD, but no. Magic Hour is, in fact, the group's most low-key and ballad-centric album to date, with only a few cuts that approach the hyperactive, ultra-camp thrills of songs like "Filthy/Gorgeous", "Paul McCartney", and "Invisible Light". It's a great new release from the American dolly rockers and a defiantly yes on our CD list.
