Ozzie rockers
INXS have announced the release of a 25th
anniversary edition of
Kick, reports Digital Spy. The band's sixth studio
album, which has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, will be reissued on 17
September via Universal Music. The album will be available in a 2-CD deluxe
edition, a 3-CD, 1-DVD + 64-page super deluxe edition and two digital versions,
plus a red-coloured heavyweight vinyl edition. Kick featured a number of the
band's best known songs, including 'Need You Tonight' and 'Never Tear Us
Apart'. It features the vocals of frontman Michael Hutchence, who passed away
in 1997. "By the time we got to Kick we really felt we were in our place
in our time," said guitarist and keyboard player Andrew Farriss. "We
had been very fortunate to be nurtured by people of great calibre, so why not
go the whole distance and really explore, gloves are off, dogs are off the
chain, let's go for it." His brother and fellow guitarist Tim added:
"We were so caught up in what we were doing we didn't think about sounding
contemporary or not. This slinky rock and roll is what we do." The super
deluxe edition of Kick will feature unseen personal movie documentary footage,
a teaser for which you can
watch. Meanwhile, Adele is rumoured to have recorded
a cover of 'Never Tear Us Apart' for her third studio album. Last September,
INXS unveiled new singer Ciaran Gribbin, after parting ways with frontman JD
Fortune for the second time.
