The late Amy Winehouse |
Amy Winehouse's father Mitch Winehouse has revealed further
plans for a tribute concert reports Digital Spy. The musician is to honour his
daughter's memory with a concert on September 14, 2014 and plans to book an
all-star line-up for the show. "September 14, 2014 at the Roundhouse in
Camden Town, we'll be unveiling Amy's statue," Winehouse told BBC
Newsbeat. "It will be accompanied by a concert. So far, the support from
stars has been incredible. We want to make it like a Live Aid type concert where
we get maybe four, five, six hours' worth. People doing a couple of songs
each." He added: "Obviously that involves a lot of people. So far the
response has been incredible." Proceeds from the event will be donated to
The Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was set up shortly after her tragic death
in July 2011. The charity will fund various projects to combat alcohol and
drug-related abuse in the UK, and is currently planning an educational project
that will visit schools. "We're ready to roll that out in March. I think
we are going to be starting with 45 schools," Mitch Winehouse said.
"We're working with people in recovery to deliver the message to young
people."
