The first time I heard the single Beloofde Land from DHF's
new CD, Alles Wat Mal Is, I was hooked. It's everything I expected from this
great South African alt rock band, and much more. The CD is a perfect hybrid
between the previous two albums, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Wilder as die
Wiltuin. But Alles Mal Is also packs in that extra musical punch that was
missing from the previous two CDs. Pierre Greeff and Hunter Kennedy wrote the
lyrics and together with Fred den Hartog they wrote the music. Fred did all the
programming during the production phase. Afterwards they recorded violins,
accordion, saxophone and piano with some friends with Jurgen von Wechmar just
outside Stellenbosch. Johnny de Ridder mixed the tracks and co-produced with
Fred den Hartog. It’s a brilliant CD full of surprises for fans, and we can’t
wait to see them touring with their new music.
