Francois van Coke from Fokofpolisiekar |
A decade ago in March 2003 the legendary 5-piece rock
outfit Fokofpolisiekar, originally from Bellville, penned down cult classics like Hemel op die
Platteland and Fokofpolisiekar.
Fokofpolisiekar changed the face of the local music scene with their first
musical offering, As jy met Vuur speel sal jy Brand, released by the end of
2003, and their massive impact still burns strongly ten years later. Fokofpolisiekar
ended 2012 with a riveting sold-out tour and the release of a double
album. The band is back by popular
demand and ready to treat their old and new fans to the En Nou’s dit 10 Jaar
Later (And Now It’s 10 Years Later) Tour. The name of the tour is a play on the
lyrics of their hit Fokofpolisiekar. The band will once again be performing two
sets, an acoustic set followed by a full-on rock set. The show duration is 120 minuntes
and can’t be missed. In April 2013 Fokofpolisiekar will also return to London
to play two shows at the Clapham Grand in Clapham Junction. There is talk to
start production in the long awaited third full length album in March 2013. No
deadline or release date has been set. Catch the band on 27 February at Rio
Casino, Klerksdorp; 28 February at the Barnyard Theatre, Cresta; 1 March Firkin
Pub, Centurion; 6 March Neetlinghof, Stellenbosch; 16 March Emperors Palace,
Kempton Park; 21 March The Barnyard Theatre, Parkview; 22 March Standard Bank
Arena, Johannesburg and 28 March The Assembly, Cape Town.
