The Table Mountain Blues Summit 2013 is happening at
Hillcrest Quarry on Friday 22 and
Saturday 23 November. The Cream of South Africa's Blues- Rock Artists will be
taking the stage. To celebrate and trace the roots of Blues in South Africa,
the Blues Summit ran a competition in October to trace the history of Blues in
South Africa. Blues Summit organiser Richard Pryor announced that the winner of
the competition is Lisa Flack. “It was an inclusive and a well-researched report
which made very interesting reading considering that there is not much on the
history of Blues in SA out there. She also accounted her own very recent
introduction to the Blues and is now an avid SA Blues supporter.” Lisa made
special mention of some of the bands that kick-started the development of blues
in SA in the sixties and the eighties: “Band O’ Gypsies, The Flaming
Firestones, the Down and Out Blues, and the Blues Broers. Now in its 8th year
with the continued help of main sponsor Combustion Technology and Paul Bothner
Music, The Table Mountain Blues Summit has established itself as a top music
festival and is ready to hit awesome and epic status in 2013. Featuring some of
the finest blues artists in SA over the past 30 years, from the Blues Broers to
the new bloods Natasha Meister and Crimson House Blues, the line-up for 2013
promises to move your mojo soul.Details about the Blues Summit at www.bluesfest.co.za
