REVIEW! Kings Of Chaos - Cape Town - Wednesday 3 December

FUCKING AWESOME! And again, FUCKING AWESOME! I'm still speechless after seeing Kings of Chaos last night at the GrandArena in Cape Town. The "best cover band in the world" blew me away. This year’s line-up included Aeromsmith, ZZ Top, Guns 'n Roses, Cheap Trick and Extreme. The core Kings of Chaos band members are Matt Sorum, Gilby Clarke and Duff McKagan (the original Guns 'n Roses band) with special guests Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Robin Zander of Cheap Trick and Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme. A packed stadium went ballistic when Robin and the Kings of Chaos band started. It blew everyone away. For me, the highlight was Billy Gibbons. Dude, that guy is ultra-cool. With his grovelling voice, beard and stage persona he took the audience on a ZZ Top trip, spiced up with songs from Jimmy Hendrix and some brilliant blues songs. Nuno had the audience in a frenzy when he, along with Steven Tyler, sang the Extreme hit, more than words. What followed was an eargasm - an unplugged version of the Aerosmith song, I Don't Want to Miss a Thing. Besides the music, I was taken aback by the ratio of the audience, it was more 'older' people (45+) with only a handful of younger people. But I have to say, the old audience knows how to rock! There was a 'granny' next to me drinking more beer than any young person, rocking with her hands and singing every song with. For those who missed this one, your bad!
