VAN COKE KARTEL jump-started the Johannes Kerkorrel & Die Gereformeerde Blues Band’s iconic song,
Energie on their cover EP with the same name. Jukebox on kykNET NOU! will premiere this high voltage performance music video on DSTV 146 this Saturday evening, 19th December. Tune in from 19:30. Covering this song is quite personal for Van Coke Kartel. Francois van Coke says that Johannes Kerkorrel and Koos Kombuis’ music was the only Afrikaans music they listened to growing up and the only thing they felt they identified with. Back in the day, Wynand used to be the sound engineer at some of Kerkorrel’s theatre shows.
