incredibly emotive, but the album was also nominated for Best R&B Album at
this year's Grammy Awards. The album's main theme is one of heartache - and
Andra Day digs deep within her soul and uses her music as a sort of therapy to
get over a former lover. In fact, Billboard say that "she shouldn't be
dismissed as a carbon copy [of Amy Winehouse] – the LP, inspired by an eight-year
relationship's end, is too genuinely intentioned and rife with regret. It's
hard not to sympathize when she bemoans".
