The Voice SA Season 1 finalist Vernon Barnard, who grabbed
the nation’s attention in a big way when he had coach Bobby van Jaarsveld
weeping during his first audition on the series, has released his debut single
and music video today through Universal Music South Africa. Vernon, who has
been blind since an early age, had his first audition on M-Net’s hit talent
competition shared by none other than Hollywood celebrity Ashton Kutcher,
garnering over 8 million You Tube views to date.
Today sees the release of his first single and video for the
track named “I Like It That Way”. This upbeat song is driven by a
spring-inspired groove and heartfelt lyrics about a special lady who captures
Vernon’s heart through her unique style.
“I’m so excited to share my debut with the South African
public! This single is a feel good song and a good mixture of catchy melodies
and uplifting lyrics. I hope everyone will enjoy listening to the song just as
much as I enjoyed making it,” says the young singer from Strand.
Filmed over the course of a day in and around Pretoria, the
video shows Vernon and his band hijacking a broadcast tower and broadcasting
their song out to the world. Fans can watch the video here:
