One of The Beat's favourite local Afrikaans alternative bands, Die Heuwels Fantasties, will be kicking up frenzy this Sunday in Pretoria when they perform as part of the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens Concert series at the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens. The performance takes place in the middle of the natural beauty of the botanical gardens and fans are encouraged to come early, bring picnic chairs and blankets and spend the day in natural splendour. With a restaurant in the gardens and alcohol on sale plus a great supervised kiddies area, the crowd is all set for a great day. “Old Mutual's Music in the Gardens series is a brilliant concept. We're big fans of music and we're big fans of botanical gardens. Put the two together... Bam! Fantastic. We're really in our element when we're performing acoustically and we can't wait for our fans to see us in such a magical setting,” said Hunter Kennedy of the band.
The Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series presents live concerts every two weeks throughout the winter season at the Pretoria National Botanical Garden and is an extension of their sponsorship of the legendary Kirstenbosch Music series in Cape Town. All proceeds from the performances go to the Pretoria National Botanical Garden.
Die Heuwels Fantasties have been shattering sales records and garnering critical acclaim ever since the release of their self-titled debut album, and they continue they hold a firm position as one our country’s top alternative bands. Their behemoth of a hit “Pille vir Kersfees” has become the anthem to a generation of fans and the awards just keep rolling in. This performance at the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series is a great opportunity for the band to connect with their fans in a natural setting – and to show them the time of their lives.
