International judge on Idols SA

Craig David
Idols SA is turning up the heat this Sunday evening (18 September), when international super star Craig David will be joining the judging panel. The two-time Grammy nominated international star will be joining Gareth, Unathi and Randall. David was discovered at the age of 17 after Colin Lester (the co-owner of Wildstar Records) heard his song “Walking Away”. Wildstar promptly signed the up-and-coming superstar, who has gone on to record no fewer than five studio albums. These have achieved international acclaim across Europe and USA and they have garnered him numerous award nominations. From the years 2001 to 2006, he has been nominated for a host of BRIT Awards in numerous categories, including Best British Urban Act, Best British Male Solo Artist, Best British Album, Best Video, Best Dance Album and Best Single. The Idols will have to pull out all the stops to impress David. Crushanda Forbes has chosen CĂ©line Dion’s “Because You Love Me”, and “You Belong With Me”, from Taylor Swift. Dave van Vuuren is performing Bruce Springsteen’s “Streets Of Philadelphia” and the U2 anthem, “Beautiful Day”. Freddie Van Dango is going with Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose” and “Use Somebody” by Kings Of Leon”. And Mark Haze’s two songs are the Marvin Gaye classic “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” and “The Pretender” by the Foo Fighters. For their duet Crushanda and Mark are performing the Sting classic “Fields Of Gold”, and Freddie and Dave are singing the haunting “Don’t Give Up”, which was a hit for Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush in 1986 and recently resurrected by Pink and John Legend. Make sure you tune in to M-Net or Mzansi Magic at 17:30 on Sunday (18 Sep) to watch your Top 4 take on two Grammy Nominated songs of their choice.
