Desmond & the Tutus |
Johannesburg based band Desmond & the Tutus, are busy recording the follow-up to their successful 2008 debut album Tuckshop with American producer/engineer Eric Broucek. Currently locked-down at the Open Room Recording Studios in Greenside, the Tutus and Broucek connected online, with Eric agreeing to come out to Johannesburg from his base in L.A. for two weeks to produce and engineer the recording. The as yet untitled album is due out later in 2012. Eric is a producer, engineer, and musician and for five years he served as in-house engineer for the highly influential DFA production team of James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy. There he worked on the seminal albums of LCD Soundsystem and Hercules & Love Affair, as well as many others. In 2008 Eric moved on to build his own recording studio in Brooklyn, where he produced and/or mixed the likes of Eleanor Friedberger, !!! (chk chk chk), Holy Ghost!, The Hundred in the Hands, Rubblebucket, and more. In 2011, after over a decade in NYC, Eric re-established himself, and the studio, Stickydisc Recordings, back in his home town of Los Angeles.
