Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan |
While Depeche Mode fans relish in the thought that the
electro synth band is working on a brand new CD, that is due early 2013, news
just leaked that the group's lead singer Dave Gahan has lend his voice to
another musical project - Soulsavers. The band, the music and production team
of Rich Machin and Ian Glover, have released three LPs since 2003 with a
variety of guest vocalists - most notably Mark Lanegan, known for a long solo
career as well as work with Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age and the
Gutter Twins. But 'The Light the Dead See', due 21 May, will have a new voice -
Depeche Mode front man Dave Gahan. "Soulsavers opened for Depeche Mode for
a big part of the European tour for the last record we did, and I had been a
fan for years," says David. "We just talked about it and we started
to write songs. There was no agenda, really. That's what was really special
about it, there was no one breathing down our backs."
