Local rockers The Parlotones will once again lead the way in
South African entertainment as they launch their custom smart phone app to mark
the release of the brand new studio album ‘Journey Through the Shadows.’ The
app is available for free download on http://www.theparlotones.net, ITunes and
Android market with the black berry edition launching in May. The band have
also recoded exclusive tracks which will not be included on the album, these
exclusive tracks are available free of charge for fans who pre order the album
at Musica and Look and Listen between before 27 April. According to the band's
vocalist Kahn Morbeet the smart phone app is an extension of the bands rollout
of their fan loyalty program and forms the mobile aspect of the system. The
smart phone app is fully integrated into Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare and
provides fans with a seamless platform to manage their social lives around the
band. Other notable features include the latest videos, gig guide, QR reader,
news feed, discography, fan wall and access to exclusive promotions. If you
enjoy social interaction and some gaming fun you can join The Parlotones
trackable passport game. The band has released 1000 Parlotones passport with
unique QR codes in the specially designed visas inside each passport. The
object of the game is to scan in the code with The Parlotones smart phone app
or any QR code reader which will unlock an exclusive download and to pass the
passport on to a friend. The objective of the game is to get your passport to
travel around the world with as many fans as possible scanning it along the
way. Each fan that scans the passport will be automatically added to the team
the passport belongs to and each member of the team will earn points every time
the passport is scanned. As an added bonus these 1000 fans will also receive
