Woo-hoo! I'm so excited! My favourite dance duo Daft Punk are set to team
up with the legendary Stevie Wonder at the 56th Grammy Awards, which will air
on Channel O (DStv 320) at 06:00 on Monday 27 January. There will be a repeat
of the awards at 20:30. According to the independent.co.uk Daft Punk are
working with the 63-year-old Stevie, rapper Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.
Guy Manuel de Homem Christo and Tomas Bangalter (Daft Punk) will play tracks
from their fourth studio album, Random Access Memories, at the Staples Centre
ceremony in Los Angeles. “Details of the performance are still being worked
out,” said Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the Grammys. “But the idea of
having the exclusive television performance by this iconic band is something we’re
very, very excited about. “It will be a collaborative and celebratory stage
performance that honours their multi-nominated music.” The robotic pair’s
"celebratory" set will be their first televised performance since
collaborating with Kanye West in 2008 and their first live performance of
Random Access Memories material. Daft Punk have been nominated for four awards:
Record of the Year and Best Pop Group Performance for "Get Lucky" and
Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronica Album for Random Access Memories,
released in May 2013. Other acts set to perform at the 2014 ceremony include
P!nk, Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons.
