My Most Anticipated Albums of 2014

With the 2014 in full swing, I am truly excited about all the music goodies for this year. Below is a list of my favourite CD releases I'm looking forward to:

Bruce Springsteen - High Hopes
The Boss is touring South Africa in late January and early February so fans will most definitely hear some of his new music from his much anticipated new CD High Hopes. Here is high hopes for the CD being a huge success! The CD will include a guest spot from Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello.

U2 - To Be Confirmed
It felt just like yesterday I saw U2 live in Cape Town, and now it's time for the Irish rockers to unleash their new music for their millions of fans! The rumour mill is pointing to an April release. This will be their first CD since 2009's No Line On The Horizon. Rumoured titles for the new CD include 'Songs of Ascent' and '10 Reasons To Exist'. This should be an interesting release as producers Danger Mouse, Will.i.am, David Guetta, and RedOne have all reportedly recorded tracks with the band.

Adele - To Be Confirmed
The British singer has taken over the global music scene with her 2011 CD, 21. Also, in 2013 she won a Golden Globe for her James Bond theme song, Skyfall. As fans awaits her new CD, yet exactly when it's coming remains something of a mystery. Although she said in March 2013 she will only record a new CD when has "something to sing about", she reportedly did spend some time in the studio, teaming with James Ford and Kid Harpoon, known for their work with the Arctic Monkeys and Florence and the Machine. She's also reportedly working with William Orbit and OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder.

Jay Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne 2
Jay Z and Kanye West, two of the hardest-working men in show business, are reportedly planning to release a second part to their 2011 collaboration, reports yahoo.com. In June 2013 producer Mike Dean claimed that the second one was on its way, but Hovan and 'Ye seems to be taking their time with this one. Come guys! Release the new CD!

Metallica - To Be Confirmed
In a recent interview with the Oakland Press, frontman James Hetfield hinted that the band could deliver a new CD this year. He said, "We have tons of material to sift through. That takes a lot of time, because there's a lot of great stuff," he said, adding, "We go full-throttle into something and multitasking is not what we're after. So the next record will hopefully start sometime in the spring." The band's last album was "Death Magnetic," unless you count "Lulu," the ill-fated 2011 collaboration with Lou Reed.

Foo Fighters - To Be Confirmed
Although frontman Dave Grohl took some time off to work on on Sound City documentary and other projects, it now seems that the Foos will release a new CD later this year, maybe sooner! In August 2013, Dave told XFM that the Foos were back in business.  "Well, I'll tell you, we have been in our studio writing and in the past few weeks we've written an album and we are going to make this album in a way that no-one's ever done before and we're pretty excited about it," he said. "It's a little ways off — it's not ready to happen right now, but I think next year is going to be a really big year for the Foo Fighters without question."

Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga - Cheek to Cheek
We have been waiting and waiting for this one and now it seems it might happen at last before Christmas 2014. Although the release date is yet to be confirmed, Tony is quite excited about the release, ""It is a very sensational jazz album, with great jazz artists on it; it came out wonderful," he said during a recent interview in Japan. "We recorded all great standards, quality songs; George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, songs like that. With a big swingin' band and great, great, jazz artists playing."
