The Awakening, South Africa's favourite dark rock export, is
set to tour their home country for the first time since relocating to the USA
in 2008. The band will be playing 7 shows across South Africa in support of
their latest release, "Anthology XV". The album, currently available
on iTunes, features 21 songs spanning 15 years of music releases by The
Awakening. Every song has been re-mixed, re-worked or re-recorded. The
selection includes all the essential tracks, alternate versions, new versions
and 2 new songs - the underground dance floor favourite "Fault" and
the dark and melancholy "Beneath Your Feet". Since relocating to the
US, The Awakening released their 8th album, "Tales Of Absolution +
Obsoletion" in 2009 and completed work on "Anthology XV". The
band has completed several US tours, including a headline slot on the HM Stage
at the Cornerstone Festival, featuring the likes of As I Lay Dying, Flyleaf and
many more. The band supported goth-industrial legends London After Midnight on
the same tour. Front man and songwriter Ashton Nyte also released his 5th solo
album, "The Valley" in 2010 and has recorded 2 new solo albums, one
in English and one in Afrikaans, due to be released in 2014. Apart from touring
his solo work from New York to New Orleans, other highlights included a feature
on PRI’s “The World” and an on-air performance on “Border Crossings” to over
125 million listeners. The Awakening has enjoyed a dedicated following in South
Africa since the release of "Risen" in 1997, featuring their rendition
of "The Sound Of Silence", now a cult classic. Numerous nation-wide
tours, headline slots at festivals like Oppikoppi and Ramfest and extensive
radio and media support have maintained The Awakening's iconic status and
fueled the necessity for another South African tour. See the band Thursday 20
