Ben Dey and The Concrete Lions (BDCL) are an Afro/Indie pop-rock band from Cape Town. Wanting to create music that showcases this powerful force among African people, the band fused Indie folk with some locally inspired Afro-pop beats to create their unique blend. Their philosophy is that music speaks a universal language and can be used to uplift and inspire communities the world over. Founded in 2015, BDCL is the result of an unlikely friendship between self-taught musicians Ben and Ongama and the ability of music to bring people together. Both from different walks of life, collectively they are the driving force behind the band and despite some line-up changes over the years, the music has remained much the same. Made up of Ben Dey (lead singer), Ongama Mona (lead guitar, backing vocals), Alex Birns (percussion) and Dillon Birns (bass), the foursome shares the same ambition, ideology and commitment which has been crucial from the get go. There are few acclaimed musicians, singers, songwriters, producers and astute business minds that have the luxury of labelling themselves ‘late developers’ when, in reality, they’ve already achieved more than most will in an entire band’s collective lifetime. In the case of Cape Town born-and-raised James Stewart, he not only fits the description to a T, he most likely helped trademark the mould. That’s just how considered the Franschhoek-based, Emmy-nominated, multi SAMA award winning, chart topping creative patently is. Labelling himself humbly and austerely a ‘musician’, James has spent the better part of his music career hell-bent on delivering seminal songs, most of which have enjoyed extended periods of times hugging the very tops of the South African and capturing hearts and minds around the world. Never far from likeminded genius, guitarist, singer/songwriter and globally respected purveyor of the blues, DAN PATLANSKY sidles into his second successive decade as one of the world’s finest blues-based storytellers of his generation. In December 2014, his album DEAR SILENCE THIEVES (produced by Theo Crous) was voted the #1 Blues Rock Album in the world released for 2014 by BLUES ROCK REVIEW/USA, alongside names such as Joe Bonamassa, Rival Sons, Devon Allman, The Black Keys, Philip Sayce, and many more. Dan started 2014 off with a bang when he was chosen to open for BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN in front of 64 000 people at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in February on his High Hopes tour. Dan was personally approved by Springsteen as support act, seeing as Springsteen rarely has guest artists for his shows.” Have a listen: https://www.youtube.com/user/DANPATLANSKYfull

Nik Rabinowitz’s new show promises to be funnier than his last show, but not as funny as his next show. It will definitely be worth your time away from the thing you would otherwise be doing, which is lying on your bed checking all four of your social media apps in a row, for so long, that by the time you’re done you can go back to Facebook and start again. If you’re not on social media, then you’ve probably binged watched all the good series, and are now left with the ones you’re not sure about, like Chef’s Table Season 2, and Vikings. The point is.. get out of your house! Pokémon are everywhere!
