On the PLUSH side of life

Local alt. rockers PLUSH is back with a brand new self-titled album that was released on Monday 2 May. The band's new single Dancing in a Storm is already getting a lot of airplay and is sure to be a massive hit. The band, while touring extensively in 2009 and 2010, has spent the better part of the past two years writing, collaborating, recording and refining this new album. "We agreed that this album needed to be approached in a different way to our previous offerings," says Eliot, the band's singer and chief songwriter. "We agreed that the musicianship needed to push us all beyond our best achievements and although we want this album to be fun, it must not lose its integrity." Guitarist Carl Wegelin describes the focus of the album as "striving for a more anthemic approach towards our new songs,” he says. “Our albums to date have been quite intimate, philosophical or cathartic. This album is reaching more towards big, sing-along songs with driving grooves.” See the band live in concert on: Wednesday 4 May at Union in Grahamstown; Friday 6 May at Tings An' Times in Pretoria; Saturday 7 May on Tans Cafe in Fourways; Wednesday 11 May at Klein Libertas in Stellenbosch and on Saturday 14 May at The Assembly in Cape Town.
