The sounds of Rocco

Where were you when you heard “My Heart Will Go On” (from ‘Titanic’) for the first time? Can you remember the theme tune from the TV series ‘Murder She Wrote‘? And of course you know “You Raise Me Up”, as sung by Josh Groban – but have you heard it with bagpipes? Did you also cry when you saw the movie ‘Forrest Gump’?
South Africa’s most flamboyant and adventurous pianist has cooked up a fresh brew of fun and nostalgia that few will be able to resist. From the show-stopping belters, to some cheesy retro and a bit of high drama, all of the songs he’s collected are bound to have you recalling emotions, laughs and moments.
“Memory” from ‘Cats’, “Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina” from Evita, “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Mis - who hasn’t throatily sung these songs in the shower? And why not indulge in the guilty pleasures of an eight-minute ABBA Medley? Then there’s also the chocolate-box luxury of laid-back tunes such as “Ballade for Adeline”, “Sleepy Shores” and “The Music Box Dancer”…
In this brand new show, Rocco plays the songs off his latest CD whilst telling the background stories that moved him to record the tunes. His musical memories stretch right the way back to his boyhood in the good-ol’ Free State, and he intends to take his audience with him on the journey!
Beautiful, beautiful – head to toe and inside out! In a world where we are constantly stressed and fearful, sometimes all we need is beautiful, beautiful piano music!
