CD REVIEW: Depeche Mode - Remixes 2: 81-11 (EMI)

This is a tough one. Really tough one. THE BEAT loves Depeche Mode. So it's hard to find anything wrong to say of these electro pioneers of the 80s, but their latest offering leaves a bit of a bland taste in the mouth. As the title suggest, the 3 CD pack is a collection of remixes, mostly of songs released the last couple of years. The problem is that way back in the 80s, Depeche Mode 12" remixes was great. But these days, it's a bit of a boring thing. Remixes 2: 81-11 delivers (and sorry to say it) boring, unimaginative remixes of songs that actually works as 7" singles and not remixes. Röyksopp's version of the DM classic Puppets is the only great song on here. You really have to listen to this CD carefully to enjoy it. What a pity.
