TOUR: Piet Botha

Piet Botha has just released a new Afrikaans album called "Spookpsalms", his first new song collection in 8 years. The album contains 11 brand new compositions and is truly a unique piece of work. The music is different from Piet Botha’s previous Afrikaans albums. Traditional instrumentation is the order of the day and the album is packed with acoustic guitars, piano, harmonica, accordion, saxophone and organ. Although Piet has been working on a few songs, the album steered in a whole new direction when the TV program, “Wie lĂȘ waar” was filmed for kykNET.  Piet, as presenter, and a camera crew travelled around the country to film the series from September to December 2010. Due to the historical slant of the program, some new elements entered into the songwriting process.  The result is a traditional, timeless feel, with Piet singing his stories with the help of the ever so talented “Spookorkes.” Piet succeeds in addressing weighty matters in a simplistic manner; even the humor that arises is satirical and leaves you laughing in retrospect.
This special collection of soulful songs is a must have for all Piet Botha fans and catch him live at the following venues in Cape & surrounds from 2 – 13 July:
