A musical treat

Nianell
Music lovers are in for a treat as popular local stars Nianell and Corlea Botha join international stars Patrizio and Dana Winner on stage at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena in Brakpan, on 29 October and at the GrandWest Grand Arena in Cape Town on 30 October. Namibian-born singer, songwriter and musician Nianell is equally at home playing keyboards as she is strumming an acoustic guitar.  Her songs have been described as a combination of folk, pop, R&B, country, classic and Celtic music and all four of her albums have reached platinum status in South Africa. Songs such as Who Painted the moon, Life’s gift and Never been loved like this have made Nianell a household name.  To date, she has performed with Christina Aguilera, Andrea Bocelli, Westlife, Diana Ross, Shakira and the Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir. Equally popular Corlia Botha first rose to musical prominence as part of the successful duo Die Lieflinge, with Rudi Claase.  Since then, she has shed 24 kilograms and has released a new album entitled Wie Ek Is.  In another first, she has begun writing songs on her own, whereas previously she collaborated with other artists.  One of her compositions features on the new album. In recent times the singer, who has training in light classical music, has experimented with new sounds and she describes the music selection on her new album as a “patchwork quilt” of genres. Together, all four artists promise to deliver some of South Africa’s best loved songs sung in Afrikaans, English, Italian and Flemish.  The audience can also look forward to some spectacular new duets.
