Top Albums of 2011

The results are out and as you could have guessed, British singer Adele is Queen of album sales in 2011 with her sophomore CD, 21. She is followed by local group Liquideep with their CD Fabrics of the Heart. Afrikaans singer Karlien van Jaarsveld, sister of well-known of Afrikaans singer Bobby van Jaarsveld, is in the third place with her debut CD, Jakkals Trou Met Wolf Se Vrou. By claiming the third spot, she out done other Afrikaans artists Juanita du Plessis and Steve Hofmeyr. The Top 20 list is based on weekly CD sales. The longer the CD is on the list, the more of the CD is sold. Karlien told Philip de Bruin of Die Burger that it’s a huge surprise for her. “Christmas was my birthday en this is the best birthday and Christmas present one can ask for. I’m speechless.” For a new singer to get such a accolade with her first CD, is a huge deal.  Well done Karlien! The complete list is as follows:
