HOT CDs FOR THE WEEKEND!

It's the weekend baby, and what better way to start it off with some hot new music. So if you fancy zef-rap, beautifully crafted pop or the soothing sounds of jazz, look now further!

Taio Cruz - TY.O
British star Taio Cruz, now living in LA these days, is kicking 2012 off to an amazing start with the release of his third CD, TY.O, wich includes 11 briliant tracks! The new song Troublemaker is already storming up music charts wordl wide and he's the man who wrote another new song, Hangover, based on a trip to the world's greatest party island. "That song is literally just me being in Ibiza with my friends, hanging out, looking at the crazy party animals in the club, and just writing a song that I felt was perfect for them."Both tunes are glorious pop-dance anthems, designed to dominate radio airwaves across the world in 2012. And both are hits-in-waiting, set to add to Cruz's astonishing tally of international single sales. This is Cruz: a hit-machine who's crafted global smashes for David Guetta (Little Bad Girl), Kylie Minogue (Higher), Jennifer Lopez (I'm Into You), Ke$ha (Dirty Picture) and for the blockbuster animated film Rio (theme song Telling The World) - a skill he honed while working in New York in his early twenties, writing for the likes of Pussycat Dolls and R Kelly.

Lana Del Rey - Born To Die
Sometimes stars emerge. Sometimes stars are thrust upon us. And sometimes stars simply slip into the atmosphere as if propelled by something otherworldly. It is into this last category that the astonishing presence, voice, look and feel of Lana Del Rey falls. Musical stardom is not an option with Ms Del Rey. It is her vocation. She calls herself the ‘gangsta Nancy Sinatra’ and defines her genre as ‘Hollywood pop/ sadcore’, a dramatic new loop for pop music. Her look she describes as ‘Lolita got lost in the ‘hood’. Get used to it all. This isn’t just soundbite, it’s Lana’s reality. Born to Die is beautifully crafted pop music that should go down well with fans of this genre.

Die Antwoord - TEN$ION
WARNING! THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED! There is one thing that is very true of the local group's second CD, 'Die Antwoord se rympies sal jou fokken kop skop'. The zef rap-rave crew expands on the debut CD, $O$, and yes, it's as crude and as interesting as their debut release. This music is for those who like their music either in an art form, or just crude. Although not as cathcy as their debut, Ten$ion grows on you the more you listen to it. The CD already features two singles: Fok Julle Naaiers and I Fink U Freeky (which features a glimpse Yolandi Vi$$er and Ninja's 7-year-old daughter, Sixteen).
