Willem Botha to perform at Eurovision 2013

It's official – Afrikaans singer Willem Botha is going to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest. Willem, will join the team from Belarus and Alyona Lanskaya with their entry, Solayoh! composed  by Marc Paelink in this year’s contest in Sweden. Willem is departing on 23 April. First off to Serbia where he will join the Belarussian team for rehearsals with choreographer, ‘Zile’ Aleksa Raifovic who is no stranger to Eurovision. On 28 April they depart for Brussels for a promo event where Botha will be performing some of his own songs as well. Then it is off to Malmo in Sweden for Eurovision and he is scheduled to return on 20 May. “This is a dream come true!” Botha said “I think every South African artist dream to be on the Eurovision stage. I feel very honoured to be invited and be part the team for Belarus. I will do my best to keep the South African name high in Sweden and very excited about the huge challenge and opportunity” he said. Big names in the music industry such as ABBA won this contest in 1974 and Celine Dion in 1988.
