Proverb brings The Read Tape to his Cape Town fam

Following the incredible success of his latest album launch, South Africa’s highly-favoured son of Hip Hop, ProVerb, is bringing The Read Tape to his Cape Town fam. On Saturday, 1 August 2015, ProVerb will be launching The Read Tape at The Imperial Bar and Café in Cape Town - in an exclusive and live performance of his latest work in the Mother City. Supporting DJs include Slabofmususe, DJ White Nite, Dreezy, Desert Head and DJ Lyle in this Boogie Boutique production. ProVerb recently celebrated ten years in the music industry, and simultaneously launched The Read Tape to great acclaim. The Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg was packed to the brim on 4 March 2015 – a significant date in the ProVerb music calendar as it’s the exact date he launched his first studio album, The Book of Proverb in 2005. Cape Town is the next stop where he will promote his latest album, and his Cape Town fans will enjoy solo performances of old school ProVerb classics as well as new releases from The Read Tape. “I’m excited to finally showcase my latest offering to my Cape Town fam and to show the Mother City some love. Cape Town is the next stop on the countrywide Books'Tour (Book Store) and I'm literally painting the town Read (Red)," says ProVerb. Although the title of his latest album springs from the idiom “red tape”, referring to restriction, limitation or rigid conformity; The Read Tape is anything but rigid. This wordsmith and author breaks all boundaries and defies the limitations with this album. A tape is also synonymous with old school, which is exactly where he’s taken the music in his latest edition. “Cape Town fam can look forward to punchlines, metaphors, similes, lyrical wizardry, poetry, thought provoking content, flows, interesting and refreshing production that will satisfy both purists and the new school. I love performing in Cape Town, the hip hop culture is rich and the mother city loves to rock,” says Proverb. Sponsors to the event include well-known sports shoes and apparel brand, ASICS, which has been developing sporting apparel for more than 60 years; and Soundselect The Shop in Cape Town, South Africa's leading online audio equipment, DJ gear, lighting, studio and musical instrument store. Catch ProVerb live at The Imperial Bar and Café on the corner of Shortmarket and Long Street, Cape Town on Saturday, 1 August 2015. Doors open at 9pm and tickets are available for R100 from www.webtickets.co.za.
