Cara’s deal with Sony Music cements her presence in the music industry as a force to be reckoned with. Cara is excited to be part of such a reputable family and hopes that it will expose her music to even bigger and diverse audiences.

Cara has recently performed at Ultra Music Festival in Singapore sharing the stage with Afrojack, Far East Movement, Deadmau5 and Kygo to name but a few.

“We are thrilled to have Cara on board and are equally as excited to expand on the momentum Cara Frew has achieved in her career thus far, both locally and abroad... she is a highly creative, talented and motivated artist, who will go from strength to strength no doubt!” – R. Maritz (Label Manager Columbia and Epic Records).

HOT! ASH sets the release of his debut album - ASH Muzik

ASH is releasing his debut album, aptly titled ASH Muzik. The album drops this Friday, 30 September at digital retail and will be available in record stores from Friday, 14 October 2016.

2016 has already seen ASH release singles Ain’t Looking For Love, featuring Buffalo Souljah and the new single Been Waiting, both of which feature on the album.

ASH wrote and arranged all the material, with in-flavour production crew, Deceptikonz, whose beats have added to projects by AKA & Da Les.  Says ASH,  “It’s all real, it’s all me. The album says a lot about my ups and downs, I know everyone goes through these things in life and I’m excited to share my story with the world and hopefully inspire my fans.”

Born Ashley Michael Beyers in 1990 to a humble one-parent home, in KZN, South Africa, ASH danced his way through early life. At just 2 years old, he won his first dance competition, busting his moves to Michael Jackson, and by 16 he was on TV, dancing in various TV commercials, before moving on to the reality show, So You Think You Can Dance, where he placed Top 5 and Music Moves Me. Now on the cusp of releasing his debut album ASH Muzik, ASH is living his dream.

‘At some point, I realized I wanted to be the whole package’ – up until then singing had been my hobby, but after touring the world for 3 years as a dancer and back-up vocalist in a Michael Jackson tribute tour, I found I had something to say, I found my voice.’ Says ASH

So from playing drums in church, to dancing on TV, performing with a variety of local and international artists including Jamali, HHP and Ludacris and touring the World he is now ready to shine,  ‘I just want to get on stage as ASH now’.

Temporary Lover, his first single dropped in 2015 and was ASH’s first #1 single at radio. In that year, he opened for labelmate Trey Songz on the SA leg of his world tour. Aint Looking For Love has ASH hunting for a true lady in the club. Moving a little deeper into the album, On It, is a simple beat accompanied by vocal layers, creating an intimate feel, juxtaposing what is essentially a song about bad girls. On Rosie, ASH adds a naughtly little banger flavour to the nursery rhyme, Ring-A-Rosie. Closing off the album, Been Waiting is a gritty and honest take on building a dream and the sacrifices that come with it.

Ashlinn Gray

Her vocal prowess together with deep seated lyrics, give you the listener something to think about. Mymymy EP - ‘Ons S'n Is Beter’

‘Ons S'n Is Beter’ (Ours is better) is the title of MYMYMY’s debut EP launching on Tuesday, 27 September.
The thing about electronic music is that it can be made to feel quite impersonal, but that’s certainly not the case with electronic power duo MYMYMY.

Perhaps it’s their combination of clever lyrics and organic sounding vocals. It goes beyond selecting good samples, layering, mixing and all that when an electronic act is able to stir something in you. Something memorable.

Conrad van Breda and Jana Oosthuizen have been making music together in various states of consciousness for 6 years in and around Cape Town. Even after long periods of absence and drama worthy of several TV soaps, they seem to drift together after every break-up, post early 20’s hangover and periods of chronic domesticity to create that which binds them - music.

To celebrate the release of ‘ONS S'N IS BETER’, MYMYMY put together a teaser. Watch it here: https://vimeo.com/182985441

MYMYMY also released a teaser soundbite of their most brow-raising track to date off their debut EP, titled ‘Die Naweek’. Take a listen here: https://soundcloud.com/mymymy-1/die-naweek

MYMYMY is a electronic music concept that is sure to change preconceived ideas of the genre in both the English and Afrikaans market in South Africa. As this synth pop duo puts it, “Someone fiddles with knobs and keys. Someone's lips parts seductively. Amazing sounds follow.”

Keep an eye on these kids.

Karen Zoid – A special one night show at Artscape Opera Theatre

Karen Zoid, South Africa's undisputed Queen of Rock, is ready to knock your socks off with a very special one-night-only performance at the Artscape Opera Theatre.
Zoid says: “To do a solo show at the Artscape Opera Theatre definately is a career highlight. It feels unbelievable to have this whole, incredibly beautiful theatre to myself! I remember the first time I walked into such a big theatre when I was a little girl. Janice Honeyman was on stage busy with a musical and I remember thinking: “wow, imagine me singingzz on a stage like this one day.” So for me this is more than just a show, it is a dream come true!”

Zoid`s electric energy and diverse voice will take you on a journey featuring some of her unforgettable English and Afrikaans hits through the years. Songs like ‘Afrikaners is Plesierig’, ‘Engel’, ‘Small room’, ‘Aeroplane Jane’, ‘Want as ek droom’ and many more of Zoid`s incredible tunes will leave you inspired and entertained. Zoid will be on stage with her band: Henry Steele, Tim Rankin and Schalk van der Merwe, with Kyle Peterson on piano & keytar.  She says: “It is Spring in Cape Town, romance is in the air, you can come and listen to music and hold hands in the dark.”
Zoid`s popular kykNET television series, Republiek van Zoid Afrika, won a SAFTA earlier this year in the category: “Best Television Talk Show.” The fourth RZA series will on the air from 11 October, 20:30  every Tuesday on kykNET.

All three Republiek van Zoid Afrika albums have reached gold status in sales. Zoid has also had major success on iTunes and YouTube in 2016. She has made SA music history by having had 10 songs in the no 1 position on SA iTunes. These songs are respectively from the Republiek van Zoid Afrika Volume 2 and 3 albums. The hit single “Toe Vind ek Jou” with Francois van Coke and Karen Zoid has had more than two million views on YouTube up to date.

Don’t miss this exclusive Artscape concert. It is going to be a very special night!

Tickets at Computicket: R160 to R180.

Stone Jets release a trippy animated music video - ‘Something Good’

“Beauty of style and harmony and grace and good rhythm depend on simplicity.” - Plato

It’s this philosophy of keeping things simple that makes the music produced by Cape Town band Stone Jets, fresh and unique, but also relatable. Their latest animated music video ‘Something Good’ reflects this perfectly as well with its quirky, simplistic animation.

Watch ‘Something Good’ music video here: https://goo.gl/Stxupa

The animated video was done by talented film student, Leah Blem.

The band, with Manfred Klose on guitars and Given Nkanyane on vocals and bass and Johan Pretorius on drums, describe their music as “Afro pop rock”, but, as is the case with many musicians, their sound has evolved as they have.

On the inspiration for this music video, frontman Given explains, “The war between the mind and heart inspires will. The will to choose a side and find peace. To call it a battle would be insane, it is just something good”.

‘Something Good’ can currently be heard playing on various national and local stations including Radio Sonder Grense, Groot FM, Radio Laeveld, SFM Streek, Kosmos Stereo, Maties FM, Kovsie FM, and UCT radio among others.

Stone Jets are jet-setting on a trajectory to becoming one of South Africa’s most beloved acts. In the meantime fans can get ready to experience their Cape Town EP launch next month.
