Local record label Just Music celebrates 10 successful and memorable years as one of the South Africa's leading independent record labels. Founded in 2003 by the well-respected music industry executive Karl Anderson, Just Music is unarguably one of the most influential, credible and successful indie labels ever to emerge from the South African music scene. Just Music has become the ‘go-to' label for cutting-edge South African as well as international artists and labels. As a home for many of the world’s most relevant indie labels, the label has not only serviced the existing alternative markets, but also broken ground in developing new markets for the trend-setting and progressive artists they have passionately, and often bravely, released. Apart from massive international successes, Just Music has discovered and developed some of the leading artists in South Africa. Included in the carefully selected roster are The Muffinz, Locnville (LCNVL), Zebra & Giraffe, Flash Republic, Yoav, Shadowclub, Tailor, GoodLuck, Pascal and Pearce, and more recently, Nakhane Toure, The Anti-Retro Vinyls, Matthew Mole and Death By Misadventure. The label works closely with artists to ensure that they not only make an impact on the music scene but also that they have long and sustainable careers. This full-service support for artists has made a Just Music deal a highly coveted signing - coveted by artists and respected by the rest of the industry.
True Blood fans, it's time to suck the living daylight out of this hot CD release. History suggests that vampires and pop go together like fanged teeth and pasty faces. Before Bauhaus was moaning about “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” in the 80s, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins eerily rose of a coffin on stage in the mid-50s to put a spell on you. More recently the Twilight series and its accompanying albums put a fresh splatter on the genre, adding substantial bucks into their blood bank along the way. Since this is volume four from the ongoing HBO series—released not coincidentally before season five’s premiere– it’s clear there is more money to be sucked out of the concept. Thankfully, this set is as artfully and intelligently constructed as the previous three even if it follows the same basic blueprint. This instalment includes songs from the show's 5th and 6th seasons and features songs from Eric Burdon & Jenny Lewis, Iggy Pop & Bethany Cosentino, The Heavy, Howlin' Wolf, The Alabama Shakes, My Morning Jacket, Los Lobos, The Flaming Lips and many others.

Magnetic is the tenth studio release for the Buffalo, NY trio, Goo Goo Dolls. "I'm so proud of our new album," says Rzeznik. I've had such a great time and learned so much from the amazingly talented people who worked on it with me." He continues, "I think that positive energy comes across on the songs. Writing and recording Magnetic changed my thinking about making music and doing it in a fun way." Goo Goo Dolls have sold over 10 million albums worldwide, with 14 Top 10 Radio hits, more than any other artist in the history of the Hot AC format. They are the only artist to have three songs on Billboard’s “Top 100 Songs from 1992-2012" including the Number One slot, for “Iris.” John Rzeznik has been honored with the Songwriters Hall of Fame Hal David Starlight Award and they have shared the stage with everyone from The Rolling Stones to Taylor Swift, who recently covered "Iris" with Rzeznik onstage. Most recently Goo Goo Dolls honoured President Barack Obama with a headlining slot at The Creative Coalition’s Inaugural Ball, which took place yesterday in Washington, DC. This CD is an absolute pleasure to listen to and a definite must for your CD collection.

The ONE Campaign today joined forces with dozens of musicians from across the globe to launch agit8, an urgent call for action against extreme poverty in the crucial week leading up to the 2013 G8 summit in Northern Ireland. An extraordinary line up of artists have added their voices to the campaign by recording brand new versions of great protest songs, because protest leads to progress and bold commitments from world leaders could be life changing. U2 front man and ONE co-founder, Bono said: "This week we are reminded of the words of the great agitator Nelson Mandela who said 'Like slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome. Millions of people… are trapped in the prison of poverty. It is time to set them free. Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that great generation.'" Since the 1970s Nelson Mandela has called upon artists and bands to use their platform to fight injustice. We were honoured then, we're honoured now. Ms Kidjo and U2 are joining other artists, including Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Vusi Mahlasela, Ed Sheeran, Will.i.am, Mumford and Sons, Elvis Costello, Sting, Green Day, Kid Rock, Rokia Traoré and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis to urge and inspire a new generation to take action in the fight against the injustices of extreme poverty and hunger. Artists from Mali, Ethiopia, South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, USA, UK, France, Japan, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Canada and Belgium have joined up. Additional leading African voices involved with the project include: Amadou and Mariam, Wayna, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Vusi Mahlasela, The Brother Moves On , SMOD, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Daby Touré, Baaba Maal, Hugh Masekala, Krar Collective with Spoek Mathambo and Venus Bushfire. Exclusive videos of their brand new performances of iconic protest songs will be available at one.org/protestsongs and on Spotify.
