Louise Carver Releases “Keep Your Eyes On Me” As The Next Single From Her Album “Hanging In The Void”

“Hanging In The Void” is an album filled with raw emotion and on writing “Keep Your Eyes On Me”, Louise Carver comments “When I wrote this song, I wanted to convey a sense of urgency, like time is running out if we don't fix these problems. It's a plea for the relationship not to end and a willingness to fight for it, even though you can feel it slipping away. Mark Beling and I wanted to create natural highs and lows in the music showing all the emotions a person goes through when they are trying to keep their relationship alive. The acoustic guitar and drums naturally drive the song, yet still keep it intimate and personal.”

“Hanging In The Void” is Louise Carver’s most heartfelt and emotionally stirring album. First single “Lift Off” launches the album with a powerful message of hope and belief, new single “Keep Your Eyes On Me” pulls on the heart strings with its emotional delivery and stand out tracks “Remedy”, “Time Stood Still”, “Your Love Is Like” and “All the Lessons” all tell a story of a tough personal journey that lead to creating one of the best records of 2016.

Carver has had multiple radio hits with singles such as “Empty Fantasy”, “It Don’t Matter” and “Warrior feat. Zulu Boy” and “Hanging In The Void” is set to deliver many more radio and fan favourite singles. The album was recorded with one of SA’s finest producers Mark Beling and is arguably Carver’s best work.

‘Hanging In The Void’ is available for digital download and in music stores nationwide.

We Are Charlie Drop The Music Video For Their Brand New Single ‘Starting To Stop’

We Are Charlie just keep the hits coming and ‘Starting To Stop’ is the latest offering from the Pretoria trio! The band release the music video and single recently.

Watch the music video for ‘Starting To Stop’ here: https://youtu.be/p9oq1u_3SfU

Following the hits ‘Let’s Stare At The Sun’ and ‘Red Norton’, the latest offering ‘Starting to Stop’ is the band’s most powerful Indie Rock single release to date! “The name came to us after a few too many drinks and a soppy conversation about growing up with a few screws loose. We were unjustifiably proud of ourselves for “starting to stop” with our bad habits. There is a girl in this one but she is and will never be real because the boy in the story can’t materialise anything worth his own weight in making bad decisions. A figment of his own imagination then? We are hopeful that this will move a few bodies on the dance floor. Thanks again from the Charlie boys.”

‘Starting To Stop’ is out now on iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/za/album/starting-to-stop-single/id1237200009

Chris Chameleon releases two albums in two languages in less than a year

Chris Chameleon is one of the most well-known faces and voices in the SA Music Industry. He is a singer/songwriter/TV and film actor, and performer extraordinaire. Multiple SAMA and Huisgenoot Tempo award-winner, he is one of the few talents who has been successful in both the English and Afrikaans music industries. His two album releases in less than a year proves just that: ‘Firmament’ was released in September 2016 and has been nominated for a SAMA Award 2017 in the Best Alternative Album Category. Chameleon`s new Afrikaans album, ‘Jy en Ek en Ek en Jy’ his first since 2009, was released in May 2017.

Chameleon says that while his Afrikaans work has kept him very busy in recent years, there is still much coming forth from in his English mind. “I feel like a different person in each of the 4 languages I speak fluently and it has the strange consequence that I subsequently express myself in dissimilar ways in each of these languages.”

In asking Chris Chameleon how he managed to release two albums in less than a year, he answers: “It was possible to release two albums, one English and one Afrikaans, in the space of a single year because the one took very a long time and the other a very short time. Work on ‘Jy en Ek en Ek en Jy’ started in 2012. The words happened very quickly back then, but it wouldn’t be until 2016, after the release and recording of ‘Firmament’, that the melodies started taking shape, and that happened rather quickly too. ‘Firmament’, on the other hand, was written and composed in a very short space of time. Some of the songs were written in a half an hour of inspired frenzy. I guess that’s what happens when you have been holding stuff in for too long, it just comes pouring out. As for the release dates, I never really plan these things, when I’m done, I put it out. Otherwise you start questioning yourself and go back fixing the past, obsessing about it, while the future and present pass you by unnoticed. Maybe that’s why we have eyes in the front of our heads; because we are meant to move forward.”

Chameleon explains that the main drive of the theme of the English album and why it is titled Firmament, is that he has reached a phase in his life where he feels less bothered by what people think of him. He says: “It is strange, because I am in the ‘vanity industry’ and one should care. On the one hand it leaves you with the responsibility to not let yourself go. It is easy to neglect your appearance and lose your grasp of protocol when you stop caring what people think. So, I find the need to maintain some element of vigilance in that regard.”

This long-awaited Afrikaans album ‘Jy en Ek en Ek en Jy’ was inspired by Chris Chameleon's personal experiences with the search for and experience of love. Chameleon says that the album is a work of emotional disclosure. He speaks in the album about God, his beloved and matters of the heart.  "The album was not made on demand or because it was time or because I had enough songs for a new album. I gave myself full, unrestricted freedom of music and lyrics. I did not disguise my feelings with artistic conjuring or ribbons and bows. The texts were often written in free verse or naked prose, while still finding their form in the regularity of song. This was a process that took a lot of honesty from me. I am humbled by the mystery of love and was inspired to write an album that extended beyond the understanding of my mind.”

VAN COKE KARTEL Calls it a Night - The Final Tour

After a brutal decade of rock ‘n roll, 5 full length albums, various drummer line-up changes, numerous prestigious awards, international tours to places like Taiwan and Europe, opening for monster international acts like Metallica, Van Coke Kartel has decided that it is time to call it quits.

‘’Van Coke Kartel has been a crazy ride.  It was the main focus for Francois van Coke and myself for many years. A lot of work went into the project and we definitely learned a lot from it. It is sad to think that it is all coming to an end, but I’m excited to take the circus on the road for one last time!’’ Wynand Myburgh

The band has not played a live show in 16 months.  Rather than just fade away, they will be going out with a bang on their final tour in July 2017.

For the finale, the Kartel will be re-uniting with ex-drummer Jason Oosthuizen to complete the line-up that they were known for the longest in their 10 year existence.

‘’The band had many different drummer over the years. A total of 5 to be be exact. We felt that the time that Jason was with us, it was our ‘golden years’. In that period we were extremely active and on an all-time high. It just felt natural to end the project with him on drums.’’ Jedd Kossew

When Fokofpolisiekar went on a hiatus in 2007, Francois van Coke and Wynand Myburgh took this opportunity to start Van Coke Kartel.  Jedd Kossew later became a full time member and this addition catapulted Van Coke Kartel’s live performances into another dimension.

‘’When Wynand and I started the project in 2007, we had never been in a band where we were the main song writers. It took a lot of hard work to create those first records. I think we got our confidence from the fact that we knew that when we hit the stage, we will make up for whatever we lacked in the songwriting. When Jedd joined he took us to a new level and he immediately contributed a lot to the writing process. He still does so today with my solo stuff.’’ Francois van Coke

Van Coke Kartel’s energetic, no-nonsense rock ‘n roll show is celebrated as a high-energy spectacular.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see them live for the last time ever.

MIDNIGHT OIL Live In South Africa For One Show Only!

Legendary Australian rock band and agitators Midnight Oil today announced their first show in South Africa in over two decades. They also unveiled plans to release three archival box sets including a collection called “The Overflow Tank” which will contain more than 14 hours of previously unreleased and rare material.

The Johannesburg show is included as part of the SOLD OUT “The Great Circle 2017” World Tour, featuring the group in its classic lineup. The world tour kicked off in mid-April and Midnight Oil will be performing over 30 gigs around the world reaching Johannesburg on Saturday the 29th of July. During the world tour they will share festival stages with artists like Arcade Fire, Sting and The Pixies.

These will be Midnight Oil’s only shows in the last 15 years. It will also be the group’s most extensive world tour since their classic late 80’s/early 90’s albums like “Diesel & Dust”, “Blue Sky Mining” and “Earth & Sun & Moon” sold over 10 million copies around the globe.

All info on the Johannesburg concert is listed below. Extensive anti-scalping measures are being taken around this tour so fans are also formally advised to only buy tickets from the official ticket agencies listed on the band’s website to avoid possible fraud and needless overpayment via so called “reselling” sites.

The band have also announced the impending release of a remastered CD box set called “The Full Tank” featuring all of their existing albums and EP’s plus a mammoth new 4 CD/8 DVD trove called “The Overflow Tank” which will include over 14 hours of previously unreleased and rare material. Both of these box sets will be housed in replica miniature water tanks like the one featured onstage at so many ‘Oils’ gigs. The band also unveiled their first ever complete Vinyl collection which will feature 11 remastered LP’s and two 12” EP’s all cut at Abbey Rd Studios in London. The three box sets will be released around the start of the tour but full track-listings and pre-orders are available now via www.midnightoil.com.

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of music knows the basics of Midnight Oil’s story and how these musical innovators and social justice brought us anthems like “Beds are Burning”, “The Dead Heart”, “Blue Sky Mine”, “Forgotten Years” and “Say Your Prayers” plus a string of other hits. Their music makes you feel. Their lyrics make you think. And the combined impact live onstage is nothing less than a call to action.

In a dangerously warming world of Trump, Hanson, Petry and Le Pen the voice of Midnight Oil clearly takes on renewed relevance; they have always been a band that both reflects and shapes “the temper of the times”. Clarion calls like “it’s better to die on your feet than live on your knees” may have been intended for earlier eras but they resonate more than ever in these days of ‘alternative facts’.

In keeping with the band’s longstanding commitments, their carbon footprint during “The Great Circle” World Tour will, of course, be fully offset and sustainability initiatives will be undertaken at all shows. Midnight Oil will also continue their collaborations with local and international environmental organizations including Greenpeace, supporting their campaigns on crucial issues like dangerous climate change and the imminent threats to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

At one level “The Great Circle 2017” simply reflects the geographic reality that the tour will loop around the world and circle Australia. At another level the name clearly implies the planet itself but it has a further meaning too. Sailors, and airmen use “the great circle” to navigate the globe because on a sphere the shortest distance between two points is not usually a straight line. How appropriate for a group who has always been deeply engaged with the world around them but whose career path has never been linear.

Midnight Oil is more than just a rock’n’roll band. In 2017 they will finally bring things back to where they all began. The circle remains unbroken.

FOKOFPOLISIEKAR makes history again

FOKOFPOLISIEKAR launched a crowdfunding campaign on 22 March 2017 via Thundafund to raise money for their first full length album in 11 years.  Their dream goal was to raise R500 000.  This amount was set to cover the album production and printing costs, music videos, marketing expenses and various crowdfunding and other expenses.

The band’s fans reacted with fire and two records were quickly shattered.  According to Thundafund, they raised the most money within 48 hours and also managed to raise the most funds for a music album in South Africa to date. Within only 9 days, Fokofpolisiekar exceeded their dream goal of R500 000 and this amount is still ticking over as fans continue to pledge for an album they clearly would do anything for to get made.

We were all ecstatic on Friday afternoon when we struck R500 000. The campaign kicked off with a bang and the funds just kept coming in. It was quite surreal at times. We are extremely grateful to our fans for their support. We are now more amped than ever to write a killer album,’’ says Francois van Coke.

And the pledges are still rolling in…

On Tuesday morning, 4 April, Fokofpolisiekar received over R570 000 in pledges and there are still 47 days left for people to back the project.

The Fokofpolisiekar band members know that in the current state of the music industry it is very difficult to sell music and for that reason they had many other rewards available as part of this crowdfunding campaign.

State of affairs

“We know that album sales are on an all-time low and that’s one of the reasons why we decided to go the crowdfunding route. To recoup the costs of an album these days is almost impossible, especially for a band that does not produce mainstream music,’’ says Jaco S. Venter.

It is very interesting to note that of the R570 000 raised, only 446 units of the upcoming album have been pre-sold.  That amounts to only R61 580 of the R570 000 that has been raised by album pre-sales.

“It is crazy that album sales make up such a small portion of the money that we have raised. But, don’t get me wrong, we did not expect it to be any different. It just confirms the state of the industry and that we have gone the correct route. Imagine we spent R500 000 on this project and had to recoup that via album sales. We would have been screwed,” says Wynand Myburgh.

‘’We are extremely grateful to our loyal fans and the intense love they have shown towards the band. We did not expect to have raised this much in such a short time. Whether it was through selling T-shirts or signed posters, it was done and we are grateful. Now, let’s go for gold,’’ says Johnny de Ridder.

Fokofpolisiekar sets a new target

This fact leads the band to a new target for the crowdfunding campaign.  They will attempt to sell more units of the upcoming album in the next 47 days.  Fokofpolisiekar would love to reach Gold status with the pre-sales of 15 000 units from their Thundafund page. In their 14 year career they have never had a gold record and in South Africa not that many artists achieve this, especially on the day first day of release.

They encourage everyone to take the step and back them by pre-ordering either the digital MP3 album for only R80, the physical CD for only R100 or the vinyl (a limited number is available at R350).

Fokofpolisiekar makes a pledge to their fans

Fokofpolisiekar also wants to make a pledge to their fans. If they reach R700 000, they will play a free show in Cape Town (on a first come first serve basis) and if they reach R800 000 they will play a free show in Gauteng (also on a first come first serve basis).

PAROW FEST – Jack’s Own Festival in The Netherlands

JACK PAROW’s own Parow Brandy has given him the vigour and inspiration to start writing his fourth full length album!  So get ready to be excited for this release in September 2017. Johnny de Ridder from Fokofpolisiekar will be the main producer and the current working title is Africa for Beginners.

Top Notch, a record label from The Netherlands, was also elated by this news and offered Jack Parow a licensing deal to release his album there. To celebrate this joyous occasion Jack will have his own festival, aka PAROW FEST, to launch his new album in the Netherlands… dik fancy.  The festival will be held at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht on 4 November.

Guy Buttery and Kaki King live in South Africa

South African born and raised guitar virtuoso Guy Buttery, teams up with legendary American guitarist and composer Kaki King for a tour that will take South African audiences and guitar enthusiasts by storm. This run of concerts will feature King and Buttery performing side by side for a singular performance in Johannesburg with another in Cape Town. The two met while Buttery was on tour in the USA and hit it off instantly. After shooting a video of one of their improvised jam sessions at King’s home studio in New York City, the talk of a tour together was immediately on the cards.

Hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as “a genre unto herself,” Kaki King is a true iconoclast. Over the past 13 years, the Brooklyn-based artist has released 8 extraordinarily diverse and distinctive albums, performed with such icons as Foo Fighters, Timbaland, and The Mountain Goats, contributed to a variety of film and TV soundtracks including Golden Globe-nominated work on Sean Penn’s Into The Wild, and played to an increasingly fervent following of music lovers on innumerable world tours. In addition to her own solo work, Kaki sometimes performs accompanied by NYC-based string quartet ETHEL. She has also performed at Carnegie Hall, premiering a classical piece commissioned by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang.

“Guy Buttery is something of a National treasure”, says South Africa’s leading newspaper The Mercury. As an internationally recognized guitar player, Guy enjoys invitations to play sell-out performances all over the globe. His international role has surpassed merely performing concerts to foreign audiences. It has evolved into one as an ambassador of South African music, inspiring people across the world with his homegrown style at the very heart of his talent and tenacity. Guy’s distinct unification of South African guitar music is the musical advocate for everything positive and beautiful about the place he calls home. Buttery has worked with an incredible myriad of artists including Dave Matthews, Jethro Tull, VusiMahlasela, multiple Grammy Award winner Will Ackerman, Salif Keita, Preston Reed, The Violent Femmes, Jon Gomm and countless others.

Expect high dynamics, delicate African inflections combined with inner city groove in a unique fusion by two of the greatest minds in progressive guitar playing today.

Diplo Heads To Johannesburg For One Night Only!

Dance music fans are in for an incredible party as worldwide electronic music heavyweight Diplo heads to Johannesburg on the 23rd of April for ‘One Night with Diplo’, a single evening concert experience taking place at the iconic Fox Junction event venue and The Goodluck Bar.

Diplo has crafted an impressive career as a musician/DJ/producer. The Grammy-winning producer has proven himself to be a ubiquitous cultural figure, consistently bridging high and low, mainstream and underground, with remarkable tact and reverence. 2016 saw Major Lazer’s “Cold Water” featuring Justin Bieber and MØ debut at #1 on the iTunes songs chart in 58 countries worldwide and reach #1 on the U.S. pop radio chart. The song continues to top charts worldwide, with more than 861 million streams to date. Diplo also contributed two songs, “Hold Up” and “All Night,” to Beyoncé’s #1 album Lemonade and received three Grammy nominations in 2016 for Producer of the Year, Best Dance Recording (for Where Are Ü Now with Skrillex and Justin Bieber), and Best Dance/Electronic Album (for Skrillex And Diplo Present Jack Ü).

The collaboration with DJ Snake, “Lean On” featuring MØ became the most successful independently released song of all time after peaking at #1 on the Top 40 chart and being certified platinum by the RIAA. “Lean On” became the most streamed song on Spotify of all time with more than 850 million streams, and only nine months after its release, the corresponding music video for “Lean On” became one of only a handful of videos to reach 1 billion views on YouTube, and is in the Top 10 most watched videos of all time. The double platinum single “Where Are Ü Now,” featuring Justin Bieber from his Jack Ü collaboration with Skrillex, has enjoyed similar success and won the group an MTV European Music Award as well as an American Music Award for Collaboration of the Year.

Local rock legends Prime Circle team up with RADA Unearthed

With six studio albums under their belt, Prime Circle aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. The local rock legends have achieved more than most. Longevity aside, the band have attained multi-platinum-selling status in South Africa, they have performed the world over - recently returned from a sold-out show in London.
The success has certainly been thrilling, but victory is not the only thing these natural-born music makers are chasing. Wanting to give back a little, Prime Circle have teamed up with non-profit company RADA (an acronym for rape, alcohol, drug and abuse), and their CSI music project RADA Unearthed.

Late last year, RADA Unearthed launched a compilation album featuring a bevy of South African talent, including Prime Circle. The album’s main focus is to give up-and-coming musicians a platform to showcase their talent. Since the local rockers are certainly not in need of additional exposure, their contribution served a different purpose: to create and boost awareness of RADA and RADA Unearthed.

Formed in December 2000 in Witbank, Mpumalanga, Prime Circle are a forced to be reckoned with, giving of their very little spare time to raise awareness around RADA Unearthed and more predominantly RADA itself.
Ross says, “The world is fraught with undeniable hurt and the work RADA do is invaluable. J-P and I have known each other for some time now and getting involved with his non-profit company was an easy choice. We wanted to give back to the community, not only the music community, but the community as a whole, creating a sense of hope and inspiration for future generations.

“Keep Marching On is a song about facing the obstacles that life throws our way. Finding light in the dark that surrounds us, especially in the current climate our country faces. It’s time to be brave, to give of our best and keep marching on.”

More about RADA:

Based on statistics, South Africa is seen as the world’s rape capital. In February 2013, J-P Nobrega was sitting in traffic on his way to work. It was an ordinary day, the same old queue of cars steadily pacing the highway. Listening to his daily dose of the Breakfast Show with Darren Simpson on what was then known as 94.7 Highveld Stereo, J-P noticed something unusual, something was different today.

Every few minutes - four to be exact - a beep would echo over the air, interrupting their daily broadcast. He soon learnt that the beep symbolised every time someone was raped in the country, a rape campaign which was being broadcast in conjunction with LEAD SA. It was a hard hitting realisation. For many it was frightening, but would remain just a momentary realisation.

For J-P, it was the planting of a very important seed that would grow and be nurtured into something far greater. He had had enough. Switching off the radio, J-P went to bed that night with a black cloud hanging over his head. He knew something had to be done. After much deliberation and research - which led to the discovery of issues far broader than the uncontrollable rise in rape statistics - he decided to leave his cushy job as an accountant, sold all of his valuable possessions and started RADA, a non-profit company, together with Jacqueline Gilbert the Managing Director of RADA. J-P now eats and breathes RADA alongside his personal tax practice.

RADA adopts a holistic approach to renewal – using proactive education programmes to develop skills, behaviours and attitudes which shall lead to improved self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making, including reactive healing processes in caring for people who face adversity.

One big name on a hit single is great, but when you bring two superstar voices together you get something special. When people talk Kahn Morbee or Karen Zoid, the first thing that comes to mind is successful musicians that have been providing fans with memorable music for close on two decades. But something that many people may never have envisaged has happened - these two icons of South African music have teamed up to create their first collaboration masterpiece with the release of 'We Could Be Divine'.

Written backstage on-set of The Voice SA between rehearsals and recorded in the now iconic Bellville Studios under the creative guidance of Theo Crous, Kahn and Karen have created a track that they feel embellishes beauty in a world of chaos that they hope many people can associate with.

"Teaming up with Karen has been an awesome experience and the song creation was entirely organic and effortless, - she's become a great friend and the process of working together will be a memory I cherish forever" says Kahn. "Working on the Voice SA together allowed us to morph in to each other's creative spaces - and between rehearsals and everything else, we worked on different ideas and in the end we came with something that we are both looking forward to sharing with the world"

Karen is one of South Africa’s premier female rock artists, coach on The Voice SA and currently hosts her own talk show Republiek van Zoid Afrika on KykNet.

Kahn rose to fame as the front man of legendary South African band The Parlotones and launched his solo career in 2015 with the release of his first single, “The Candle" from his debut album 'Salt'. Kahn currently sits alongside Karen, Bobby van Jaarsveld and Lira as a coach on The Voice SA.

Tima Reece Releases “Gone” As The Second Single From Her Album “9”

Tima Reece's dulcet vocal performance on her new single "Gone" anchors her futurist pop confections. Her latest offering off #TheAlbum9 remains a hypnotic presence, where her voice and charisma along with infectious mellow synths, lead this radio friendly summer jam toward triumphant blending of 80's and 90's references.

“Gone” is officially released to radio this week - Listen to "Gone" here: https://soundcloud.com/timareece/2-gone

“This song is about toxic relationships and the finality of ridding yourself of these people. When I'm with you, I lose my mind but when I'm not with you, I find myself!” and Tima Reece’s powerful lyrics shine through in the single.

On writing the song, Tima Reece explains “I was so inspired by the incredible production that Kurt Herman & Llewellyn George had come up with, that it literally took me 20 minutes to write all the melodies and lyrics – in my study. After singing the rough idea to Kurt, he freaked out and made me record it the next day. It really was birthed that quickly!”

“Gone” is the follow-up to her national charting hit single “9” - watch the music video here:  https://youtu.be/WJyO-wMujYk

Tima literally exploded onto the SA Music Scene at a young age, having been discovered at 15 in the television series Shell Road to Fame. Her first hit single Crazy ‘Bout You was released at just 16 years of age, garnering her a SAMA Best Dance Single Nomination in 2001. The industry and public alike sat up and took notice! A new star was born.

She was quickly snapped up by a New York based recording company and at 18, she was on a plane and starting her international recording career. Whilst based in New York Tima had the unforgettable experience of writing with many influential names in the industry, such as Calvin Gaines, Mark Wilson, Mike Mason, and Marc Dorsey – people who have written and produced albums for stars such as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Shortly after Tima’s return to South Africa from the United States, her album was released, with its well-deserved success earning her a SAMA Award nomination in the Best R&B Category in 2004.

Hits such as You Should Know and My Body’s Crying further established her as a popular R&B artist and these hits still enjoy high rotation on local radio stations more than a decade later….

Tima’s first single “9” shows off her silky vocals while a cameo of ProVerb on the trap ballad “Nguwe” brings about the crème of rap innovators. The sultry songstress uses dark and sensual beats that explore a multitude of genres that will appeal to mass audiences.

Tima has always enjoyed a close affinity with her fans even during this 9-year hiatus and the excitement from them with the expectations of this new release is palpable. She looks forward to being on a stage performing for them, soon. For her, it’s one of the best experiences in the world!

The single is the first track from Lost&Found’s forthcoming EP, also entitled ‘The End Of The Bar’.

Jason Oosthuizen explains what the song is about: ‘It's about struggling with "Substance" abuse and how when you in that frame of mind nobody can really see your passion as they just label you as a "jol gat" but once you go to a bar there will always be someone willing to drown that internal pain with booze and drugs to make it all feel ok again.’

Jedd Kossew’s dirty guitar riff gives ‘The End Of The Bar’ it’s gritty rock sound. Oosthuizen had the idea to add Jedd to the song, saying ‘With the nature of our new sound, i thought having a "Facemelter" solo could just add to our vibe.I called jedd and the next day he was there taking two takes to get the exact solo we all wanted.I spent five years with Jedd in Van Coke Kartel so we have a great history and we know what we want when we in the same room musically.’

The ‘In Your Life’ and ‘Wave G’bye’ hit maker has had a quick rise in the music scene following a string of hits in 2016, including a collaboration with Mapped Out Squad on the 2nd Season of the TV series Coke Studio. 2017 saw a sweet start to the year as the STRANGE LOVING REMIX of ‘In Your Life’ was released WORLDWIDE on 27 January through German label Katermukke Records. The response from international DJ’s has been incredible for the remix and even legendary BBC RADIO 1 DJ Pete Tong gave it a 5/5 rating saying “this is incredible ...”.

Apple explains how ‘Fan Girl’ came about. “This the follow up to my previous single ‘Wave G'Bye’ where that was a breakup song and I was exploring my emotions in a vulnerable place. In ‘Fan Girl’ I speak about a story where I have again found someone but I am not ready to commit to her as much as she wants to commit to me. In this specific situation she is only after me because of the starting of my success in my music career. So in essence, I am rejecting her and I just want her to be there to enjoy the music and my company but not ready to start another relationship.

He continues, saying “’Fan Girl’ is my song to a woman who wants to ride a wave and I don't think she deserves to be let in just yet.”

The Song was recorded by Ningi Poro and mixed & mastered by Gregory Nottingham and Robin Kohl at Jazzworx Studios.

‘Fan Girl’ is available for Digital download now or as an instant download when you pre-order ‘SWAZiKiD’ – https://itun.es/za/w7XAib

SEVVEN pens inspirational song about love and unity for RADA Unearthed

Following the success of his debut single Forget Who We Are, which charted on radio stations across the country, local musician SEVVEN teamed up with RADA Unearthed to release Fight For Love, a power ballad that will bring you to your knees.

The song follows the release of an array of successful titles from the non-profit, whose purpose is to give artists a platform to showcase their talent and spread a message of hope through music. Fight For Love is the perfect fit.

SEVVEN was initially brought on board to produce songs for the RADA Unearthed compilation, working alongside a bevvy of talented artists. When J-P Nobrega - founder of RADA – heard SEVVEN’s original material, he was immediately added to the line-up of acts set to feature on the album.

SEVVEN says, “Fight For Love was already written at the time, and it was a perfect fit, but it wasn't produced yet. I almost missed the album deadline, but managed just in time.”

RADA Unearthed was born from a desire to change the world through music. Because music is so integral to human life, J-P is of the opinion that it has the power to change lives. RADA Unearthed is a division of RADA. The project contributes to the arts and strives to assist all artists from all genres of music.

“RADA is a way to help make a difference, and anyone can get involved,” SEVVEN says. “It's not just a cool logo to have on your website, or something to make you feel better about yourself. It's real people helping other people make positive change when they need it.”

When asked about the meaning behind the song, he says, “I think we are afraid of what we don't know. Sometimes we hold onto ideas that aren't the best ones, just because we are afraid to change our thinking. This song, is about being brave, and fighting for that one thing that will always be the higher choice, which is LOVE.”
