OFFICIAL! Twin Atlantic new album GLA release date 9 September!

Scottish rockers Twin Atlantic, are set to release their new album, GLA, on September 9th. They recently released the video for the first single off the album “No Sleep”, a track playlisted on the BBC’s national pop music station Radio 1 where it was named “Hottest Record In The World” and “Track Of The Day” by leading British music bible, Q Magazine. “No Sleep” was heard for the first time on SA radio on Stephanie Be`s show on 5fm on July 11th. It is also playlisted on various campus, community and online radio stations nationwide. South African fans got to see Twin Atlantic live at Oppikoppi 2015 and One Night in Cape Town 2015. The band received rave reviews. In the words of music journalist Wayde Flowerday: "Twin Atlantic proved a point at Oppikoppi 2015. Not only are they a phenomenal recording band, but they are a powerhouse of a live act. Definitely one of the highlights of the festival!"
The songs on GLA were written in Glasgow, and the band repaired to Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles to record the album, working with Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, Two Door Cinema Club), who had previously produced a couple of tracks for 'Great Divide'. Under his direction, they eschewed old school recording techniques, taping their parts separately. “At no point did we play together,” McTrusty says. "We changed our approach and turned the idea of a rock band upside down, conforming only to this one idea - to take back rock and roll. To give people something real again”. This change in their recording process marked the grander ambitions of the new songs, while their dream mixer Alan Moulder (best known for his unforgettable work with Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Foo Fighters and My Bloody Valentine) came aboard to give the album the essential finishing touch.
“We were inspired by classic riff-rock, but we want to make our own version of it, and inspire other people,” McTrusty explains, “We’re giving that extra bit of ourselves, and we want to give power back to rock’n’roll, to reveal itself. With ‘GLA', we have everything to lose, and nothing to prove. That’s an exciting creative place to be."

“We could never have made this album before,” adds McNae, “because we hadn’t had all our experiences, we hadn’t made all the right mistakes. We have finally made the album we wanted to make.”

HONNE release incredible debut album

Ever since forming back in 2014, British group HONNE stuck out of the crowd. They had a different approach to creating electronic music and after teasing fans with a couple of tasty singles, they finally released their debut album 'Warm On A Cold Night'. The album's title single and 'Someone That Loves You' have introduced the band to a larger audience and rave reviews have been coming in. South African reviewer, Sebastian Ammon gave the album a stellar review saying "Each song is meticulously crafted with a synth bed laying the foundation for the drums, funky bass running up and down, and the electric guitar simmering through to peak out from under the sheets. Although each song is built from a similar recipe, every track offers something different." The album is out now at all good music stores and on iTunes.

Alternatief Is Groot - A Selection of the Very Best Local Alternative Music

Alternative music is best known as the genre that won’t be told what to do.  From this freedom flows original sounds, authentic words from the heart and a fire that can’t be contained by a mainstream mould.  The songs may or may not achieve commercial success, but the unique music creates a lifelong love affair with its listeners.

To pay homage to this genre, Coleské Artists handpicked and presented an exceptional collection of classic and current South African alternative music on one massive double album – Alternatief is Groot (Alternative is Big).

The 38 handpicked songs on Alternatief is Groot, evoke a range of moods and memories. Take a nostalgic road trip back in time to the legendary tunes by Johannes Kerkorrel (Hillbrow) and Koos Kombuis (Johnny is nie dood nie) that started it all and inspired current chart topping artists and bands like Die Heuwels Fantasties (Sy) and Francois Van Coke and Karen Zoid (Toe vind ek jou).

Take a load off with some classics like Wonderboom’s Africa, Eyeshadow by Valiant Swart or Against All Odds by AKING.  If you had a bad day, belt out the epic anthem Ek Skyn(Heilig) by Fokofpolisiekar or Beaten by the Gun by Taxi Violence.

HOT NEWS! GoodLuck Release "Find Me In The Forest"

Following after their chart topping single “Thinking About You”, GoodLuck, one of South Africa’s most popular electronic music groups release their brand new single “Find Me In The Forest” Today! “Find Me In The Forest” is the third single off GoodLuck’s brand new album, expected out this October!
We've pushed ourselves outside of our comfort zone with this latest song and I guess you could say that Find me in The Forest is one of the edgiest tracks we have ever released as a band. We are super proud of Ben's cutting-edge production and it seems to have a slightly nostalgic almost South American feel to the song. It was co-mixed by a very talented Dutch artist called Jaz Von D who we have struck up an amazing relationship with over the past few months. Lyrically “Find Me In The Forest”  was inspired by all our travels abroad and getting a sense that you are floating from city to city feeling very disconnected from home. I think we came to realise that 'home' will always be wherever we are feeling happy... If it’s in a forest, in a city with family, with friends or near the ocean... Where you'll find my heart, you'll find my home. – GoodLuck

GoodLuck’s music is an irresistible blend of electronic pop with subtle influences of jazz, creating a sound that is uniquely their own, performing to audiences across Europe, Africa and the UK over the past 3 years.

Their high-octane performances have earned them a credible place amongst other artists in the live-electronic genre. GoodLuck have shared stages with Groove Armada, Bassment Jaxx, The Petshop Boys, Bakermat, Goldfish and Paul Oakenfold to name a few. GoodLuck have performed at sold out concerts in Amsterdam, Berlin and London.
